City schools honor 2014 valedictorians

RPS valedictorians

Richmond City Public Schools this week honored the district’s 2014 valedictorians with a special luncheon held at the Science Museum of Virginia. The event featured performances by Franklin Military Academy’s FM Stereo, an a capella ensemble; a video tribute to each valedictorian; and keynote speakers Alissa and Ariel Barlow, class of 2011 co-valedictorians for Armstrong High School.

This year’s valedictorians are: Alexandra N. Davidson, Richmond Community High School; Shaynna Ivaughna Cooper, Huguenot High School; Kaya Rosado, Armstrong High School; DeVante’ Tyler Gordon, Franklin Military Academy; Azure’ Shadia Minor, George Wythe High School; William L. Hewlett, Thomas Jefferson High School; Claire Tibbs, Open High School; and Mercedes Hanks, John Marshall High School.

Richmond Community’s Alexandra Davidson ranks as this year’s citywide valedictorian, graduating high school with a 4.954 grade point average. As a group, this year’s valedictorians compiled a 4.45 grade point average and over two million dollars in scholarships.
