Newport News Police see credit card fraudsters

On Feb. 3, between 3 and 4 p.m., Newport News Police report that a 68-year-old Newport News woman was shopping at Trader Joes when she was approached by a middle aged woman who engaged her in conversation about ingredients in some food item. When the conversation ended the 68-year-old woman went to pay for her items and her wallet was gone.
Two unknown women used the victim’s credit cards at Best Buy at about 4 p.m. and at Target at 4:17 p.m. (both stores are in the 12000 block of Jefferson Ave.). The unknown pair purchased several thousand dollars in merchandise at each location. Security video shows the two women using the cards and exiting the Target store.
