Hampton Roads' Top 10 lists of Black love

Love is in the air and Hampton Roads residents chimed in on who they feel represent Black love.

February is Black History Month, the month set aside to celebrate African Americans and their many accomplishments and contributions to America. February is also viewed as the month of love because of Valentine’s Day. Real and lasting love is hard to find nowadays with the U.S. divorce rate being just over 40 percent in 2013— the 5th highest divorce rate in the world, according to the United Nations Demographic Yearbook. In 2013, Virginia had a 10 percent divorce rate. With his in mind, Hampton Roads residents weighed in on their favorite examples of Black love that have stood the test of time from real life to the big screen.
