The search is over. Radio One has name the successor to Mitch Malone, who passed away unexpectedly last November of natural causes.

Phil "Philly Phil" Daniel, known in Richmond on air as “Philly Phil” will host Richmond’s highest rated nighttime show “The Quiet Storm” on WKJS-FM 99.3/105.7FM weekdays, from 7 p.m. to midnight. Daniel officially kicks off April 28.

Philly Phil has been a radio personality for over 30 years notably on Richmond stations "Magic 99” “Power 92", as well as hosting mornings on Jammin’ Oldies Magic 105.7 up until 2003.

Since then, he has worked in other fields, but has never let go of his radio connection serving as program director for Hoffman Communications and Chesapeake Broadcasting up until March of 2013.

“The city of Richmond mourned with us the loss of Mitch Malone last November," said Radio One Richmond Vice-President/General Manager Linda Forem. "After a nationwide search, we found Mitch’s replacement in our own backyard.

"How fortunate we are that Philly Phil will take over The Quiet Storm, a show that gives so many so much pleasure. Phil is one of Richmond’s favorite DJ’s, and many who listened to him in the past will be happy to have him back on our simulcast signals 99.3FM and 105.7FM WKJS as well as on

online at www.kissrichmond.com.”

Daniel graduated from Temple University with a B.A. in marketing and communications, and has been a Virginia resident for over 25 years. Married with children, he serves as a mentor and church usher and sees his biggest talent as the “gift of encouragement.”
