— Over the past two days, Virginia State Police personnel turned red into green while bringing awareness to two great causes. On Sept. 4 and 5, state police personnel donated 58 pints of blood to the American Red Cross that would be used to help save 174 lives.

In an effort to bring attention to both the American Red Cross and Special Olympics Virginia, Haley Buick GMC donated $2,000 through the Virginia State Police blood drive to help support the upcoming 3rd Annual World’s Largest Truck Convoy for Special Olympics. The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 8 a.m. at the State Fair of Virginia at the Meadow Event Park.

The World’s Largest Truck Convoy is a unique one-day celebration in which law enforcement escort a convoy of trucks through cities and towns in Virginia, 37 other states, and Canada. The event raises critical funds and awareness for Special Olympics athletes. Last year, over $20,000 was raised and nearly 50 trucks participated in the 50-mile convoy.
