RICHMOND SMG Richmond has partnered with the Richmond Economic Development Authority to manage the new Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center. SMG will manage the year-round operations of the 40,000 square foot building, adjacent practice fields, recreation area and amphitheater on the 17 acre site.
For three weeks each year, the training center and practice fields will be utilized by the Washington Redskins for their annual training camp. The remainder of the year will see a variety of activities at the facility, including musical and theatrical events, youth sports programs, tournaments, educational, athletic events and festivals.
“The authority is excited about the opportunity to partner with SMG for the management of the center," said Rich Johnson, director of the EDA and project manager for the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center. "Their experience in managing both professional sports venues as well as multi-purpose facilities makes them the perfect candidate to maximize the opportunities of this training center for the citizens of Richmond.”
Dolly Vogt, regional manager for SMG Richmond said the company is excited about the variety of events they will be able to bring to the site.
"The crowds at the training camp loved the facilities and we can’t wait to continue to introduce this facility to the region through a multitude of exciting events," said Vogt. "In the next few weeks we will be working out processes, procedures and specific details with our partners to ensure that this training center and all of its facilities will be optimized.”
