Students take part in Thanksgiving reenactment

Classes at Westview Early Childhood Education Center in Petersburg held their very own Thanksgiving reenactment this week.

Students dressed in authentic Pilgrim and Indian clothing that they made themselves. They also took turns explaining how they came to live in America (what ship they rode on, where they landed, why they came, who assisted them when they arrived, where they came from).

Each student stated what he or she was thankful for and then took part in an authentic Thanksgiving meal prepared by their teachers and teacher assistants.

To culminate the activity, the students watched The Mayflower Voyage as their teachers transformed the First Thanksgiving Feast back into a classroom.
