— National Stroke Awareness Month and Blood Pressure Awareness Month in May share the spotlight with the National Million Hearts™Initiative. Robert Reitz, Virginia Department of Health’s South Region heart disease and prevention coordinator is acknowledging these heart-health awareness campaigns through his promotion of the Million Hearts™Initiative. This initiative, sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Center for Medicaid Services, seeks to prevent one million heart attacks and strokes by 2017.
