Looking for something to do in Richmond on the first Saturday of the month? Saturday Soul Social, a monthly acoustic soul series featuring what organizers call "the best indie soul musical talents from around the country" will feature multi-platinum-selling, Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Gordon Chambers, on Saturday, July 6 from 7-11 p.m. at the Speakeasy lounge at Mansion Five26 (The Hippodrome) located at 526 North 2nd Street in Richmond.
Every first Saturday of the month, Richmonders can enjoy Indie Soul music at The Hippodrome’s Speakeasy lounge. Saturday Soul Social is an event for indie soul artists by indie soul artists. Indie Soul is a musical genre and artistic movement that focuses on organic variances of R&B, Blues, Jazz, and Hip-Hop with “swank” cultural overtones. This movement supports independent musicians and artists. The Saturday Soul Social caters to music lovers who support the culture and arts of their community, locally and at-large.
Attendees can start each month with a signature cocktail and an amazing gourmet meal from the Mansion Five26 kitchen, all while enjoying live music performances, comedy acts, giveaways and the featured nationally-known indie soul artists. The Saturday Soul Social event is brought to you by JAPMEG, Inc. and hosted by indie soul superstar Jarrard Anthony.
July’s featured artist is Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Gordon Chambers. Chambers has penned hit songs for some of R&B’s most iconic legends such as Anita Baker, Beyoncé, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle and others. He has also released three solo albums.
“Saturday Soul Social is honored to welcome Gordon Chambers to Richmond this month,” said Jarrard Anthony, indie soul artist and founder of Saturday Soul Social. “We thank all the artists and appreciate the positive music and expressions that bring beauty and life to our community.”
