City rock 'n roll event at the Dell
7/30/2013, 3:50 p.m.
Organizers guarantee the Festival of the Arts production to be lively. It features its now famous title song as well as well-known hits like “Let’s Hear It for the Boy.” Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday starting at 8:30 p.m., and like all Festival of the Arts productions, which are brought to you by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities, they are free to attend.
The Festival of the Arts at Dogwood Dell, now in its 57th year, will continue on Sunday, Aug. 4, at 8:30 p.m. with the Buster Keaton silent movie, “The Cameraman,” accompanied with live music performed by Ben Miller and J. C. Wright.
On Aug. 8 at 8:30 p.m., Richmond audiences will have the rare opportunity to see the award-winning City Dance Theatre perform locally for free. This PRCF-sponsored competitive youth dance company recently won several national awards at the DanceAmerica competition held in Chicago in June. Then on Aug. 9, also starting at 8:30 p.m., the widely celebrated Ezibu Munto will perform a program of African dance.
The Dell season will conclude with an evening of Opera in the Park featuring opera’s greatest hits performed by the Virginia Opera starting at 7 p.m. on Aug. 31.
